Even though I feel like this is just how life is supposed to be, I think that I could be what constitutes a supermom. I have been a nurse for all most ten years now. I have been at The Cleveland Clinic Taussig Cancer Institute for four years. While at work, I treat my patients like my own family and then come home to my own. I have a wonderful husband and two boys (11 and 3). Also, two dogs who think I am their mother. I have spent the last five years working on my bachelor’s degree. I will graduate this August. Needless to say that it’s been a busy five years. Thank you for your time.

I am a mother 3. Prior to becoming a mom, I had a full time career as a Dental Assitant for 10 years. I worked for amazing doctors in a state of the art office. I absolutely loved what I did and really built a relationship with my patients and coworkers. I had my daughter in 2011 and returned to work with no issues. I had a close family member that offered to babysit for us. Well in 2014 we were blessed to find out we were expecting again. No big deal right. Wrong!!! We were blessed with the gift of TWINS!!!! Ok that’s fine, things will be fine, I will be fine. Our family member offered to also watch the twins which was a lifesaver. I was put on bed rest 2 months prior to delivering our boys. Well while on maternity leave our sitters husband received a phone call he had been waiting 8 years for. He was gonna get a kidney. He had been on the list for what seemed like forever. Once the transplant was complete, he had a few setbacks that left his wife (our sitter) unable to leave him unattended, as well as his immune system being extremely compromised. That being said bringing 3 sniffling children over to be watched on a regular basis was out of the question. Needless to say we were left with know one to care for our children while we were at work. I looked into several daycares and the cheapest I found for 3 kids full time was going to cost us more then what I was bringing home by working full time. I had no other choice but to quit my job and step away from a career and office I was in love with. Which was not easy on me mentally. I have always worked since I was old enough to get a job. So we are talking a complete lifestyle change. Me being home everyday with 3 children under the age, not 1 but 2 newborn babies, and a now family of 5 to survive on only my husband’s landscaper income. We have gone without a lot of things in order to get by. Most if not all of our furniture and clothes being hand me downs. Endless nights of pb&j sandwiches, ramen noodles, or not dogs and Mac and cheese for dinners. It isn’t healthy but it’s what we can afford. Don’t get me wrong being a stay at home mom does have it’s benefits. I get the be the one to raise my children. I get to be the one able to get up with them at all hours of the night when 1 or all if them have gotten sick in their beds. I am available to volunteer at the schools when I am able. And most importantly I get to be the one making memories day in and day out with my little loves without missing any milestones. We would love to be considered for this contest. In out 17 years together we have not had the honor or joy of being able to purchase any nice furniture for ourselves. I type this as I sit on our hand me down furniture that once was my mothers that she purchased OVER 20 YEARS AGO. It has served us well but has been through her house in which they are smokers and had 2 digs and 3 cats. Then on to our house which has lasted through 3 children who have all been potty trained. So it has endured several bathroom accidents, sick kids committing, and now our crazy kids bouncing around on them. There are tips in which they try to pick to foam stuffing our of the arms, and broken boards from them thinking it was ok to jump on the furniture. I have always said once the kids were fully potty trained I would love to get a new living room set at tax time. Well of course something always comes up and the thought of new furniture remains a maybe one day thought.

My SuperMom is my own mom Renea A. Hill. She is the proud mother of 9. Grandmother of 11. She has no idea that she is being nominated right now. She literally does EVERYTHING. She has 2 children who are still in High School. One of those 2 is a Senior and will be receiving his HS Diploma this Spring. This will be the 8th Diploma that has been earned by my mom. She likes to believe that although her children went to school in the physical, she is the motivation and encouragement that we all needed to succeed. She did just that. She got us up and out to school everyday. Arranging rides at times when schedules clashed. However she made it happen. After each one of us walked the stage to receive our Diplomas we handed it straight to her. She has all 7 soon to be 8 Diplomas at her home. She even have frames for them. She is in need of nice wall space to put them. My mom is very big on education and success. At the age of 17 she became pregnant with twins. She was due to deliver right before graduation. She missed a lot of school at the end of the school year which made her fall short of receiving her Diploma. However she was determined to walk the stage. Although she did not walk the stage with her original graduating class she went back the following school year to complete her courses to graduate and walked the stage the following year. She always told us NO excuses. And that our motto through life. My mom recently lost her job. She now stays home and does EVERYTHING for EVERYONE. She is the true definition of strong. She does a lot and NEVER complains. Her 2 children that live with her are in need of beds . They both had air mattresses that have now deflated and they are sleeping on the floor. With no income it is hard to afford the beds. She could also use a new bed. A bed fit for the Queen that she is. She deserves it. (Submitted by Shenay S.)

MY MOM HAS BEEN GREAT AND IS A PHENOMENAL MOTHER.

My neighbor is my hero. She works full time and is selfless. Her 15 year old son 6 years ago was paralyzed from the neck down. She never complains. Last year she went through breast cancer and chemo w the grace of a saint. Her husband takes care of Home and her son. She is everyone’s inspiration and wouldn’t even want me to nominate her but she deserves this. Thanks for considering this beautiful person, (Submitted by Diane F.)

I want to nominate my mother Brenda Sessions. My mother is the definition of a wonderful Mother, Grandmother and friend. Brenda goes over and beyond not only for me (her daughter), but she also goes hard my 2 children ages 13 and 1. Her day starts at 6 and she doesn’t end her day until midnight. She watches my kids while I work, she cooks , cleans and helps with homework. My mother does so much for everyone and never complains. I think this 5000 makeover will be exactly what she needs and deserves. She is a true God sent. I would totally be lost with out my mother. Please consider my mother Brenda Sessions as a Super Mom and Super woman. (Submitted by Mayan W.)

What can I say about my sister Cyndi Beverly?

Yes, obviously she is a Mom and a SUPER one at that, but she is so much more.

Cyndi is a Grandmother of two; Head of household and Caregiver of our 83 year old mother and our youngest sister, Family Historian and event organizer, Church Treasurer, Church event committee leader, Children’s Sunday School teacher, Head Cook for a bi-weekly gathering at a local CMHA housing apartment building where she lovingly and selflessly serves the residents who attend, Voice of NASA Glenn and NASA Glenn Telecommunications Operator, Friend…Sister…Aunt…

The list goes on and on but I’d like to make it known that in doing for others, she has had little to spare for herself.

Time and finances.

Cyndi is extremely crafty and content doing DIY projects to create a beautiful home environment for our mother and sister but it would be so rewarding if she could furnish her home with quality furnishings instead of the hand-me-downs passed from other family members who discard their furniture for newer/trendier items.

Cyndi is truly THE #CLESuperMom! (Submitted by Karen B.)

My nominee is a super mom because she runs a house hold of 12 including 11 kids ranging from 1-18 and husband. All of the kids are good students and respectable little humans. She teaches them great responsibility. Does weekly activities with them all. Manages to wake up everyday get them ready for school with a full hot breakfast. Take care of the younger ones that aren’t in school. Pick up, come home help with home work, cook dinner, have fun with games or movies or goin somewhere. Then manages to get all baths/showers and tucked in to start the next day. It’s so much more to this super dynamic mom! She is amazing and definitely a role model. She’s a foster parent and now adoptive parent to 5 our of the bunch. What a phenomenal woman! My mom is the most unselfish lady in the world. For starters, she had a rough beginning, she was a single mom and we bounced from school to house quite a bit, but always put myself and brother first! When I was pregnant with twins, she found out she had a brain tumor. She told no one in fear of how devastated I would be. She went 6 months without telling any one or having surgery. After I delivered she had surgery, luckily it was not cancerous, but the size of a grapefruit. Months later she was diagnosed with breast cancer, they caught it early enough so it did not spread, she has been cancer free from for 16 years!! She lived in mayfield and my grandpa in Florida, she always said if something happened to his wife, she would move to take care of him. 2 June’s ago, his wife passed. What she had always said became a reality. She left her business behind, her friends, and family and moved. It was so hard for all of us. Looking at the whole picture if she didn’t move my grandpa would not be with us, so for that we are very thankful of her actions!!! There is no mother more caring, passionate, kind hearted than the one I have. She is my mom and also my best friend! She ya a wonderful nana too!! If she were to win this makeover she would deserve it but because she isn’t local not sure if that would Erin but I do know I really need a furniture make over too (Submitted by Donna D.)

I am a supermom, because I maintain a home, assist with my elderly parents, as well as my grandchildren, I volunteer at my church and efficiently run a household and hold a full time job for 32 years.

Gia is a SuperMom. She is a mother of 5 kids (14,12,8,6,6 – yes twins). She is a Firefighter/Paramedic. She is a volunteer head coach for both Junior high volleyball and Junior high track at our kids school. She is an amazing gourmet cook. She is an incredibly athlete. She is a beautiful person inside and out. She manages our entire household without hesitation, doing all the grocery shopping, cooking, helping with kids homework, driving the kids to and from school and after-school activities – all with a smile on her face and a great positive attitude. At any moment her ‘tones’ can go off, and she will be called away to our local Huron, OH fire department where she will don her gear, jump on at truck and go out to the highway to rescue people injured in a car crash, to a house fire fully engulfed in flames, or to a family home to resuscitate a person from a stroke or heart attack. She is an angel of mercy who has saved countless lives over the last 20+ years. She is an amazing mother who has helped me raise 5 incredible children. She is the absolute epitome of a SuperMom. My sister-in-law is the definition of a SuperMom. She has been through the worst of times, yet has not let life shake her. The worst of it was involving my niece, Hazel. Hazel was born with Infantile Spasms, a form of epilespy. Hazel’s epilespy grew worse and worse from the ages of 1 to 2, with Allie and my brother, Jonathan, trying every medication possible, as well as crazy diets, traveling to every doctor, etc. Hazel was hospitalized numerous times and ended up having grand mal seizures – the very worst kind. Allie and Jon would stay up all throughout the night with her, making sure she would get through the night, as night time seizures are deadly. I remember the worst day. It was when I was in the basement with my brother and Hazel. He started sobbing and I knew that he was terrified. This time was a virtual hell for our family, but Allie led us through, never faltering. She kept a blog, which you can see at https://ourhazy.wordpress.com/2013/10/. During this time, my mother passed away. Allie was a huge support to my brother, father and I. She stayed at home with my 2 nieces and nephew while we were at the hospital and gave us time to grieve even though she, too, was going through the worst time in her life. After trying everything, Hazel had brain surgery – the last resort. Thankfully, Hazel’s seizures stopped and haven’t continued since. Our prayers were answered! Hazel is almost six now and Allie still has to keep a close eye on her, as she is still considered to have a traumatic brain injury and has special needs (Hazel just started talking about one year ago – yay!). I think my sister-in-law deserves to be named #CLESuperMom because she has dedicated the last 12 years of her life to my nieces and nephew, as well as to being there for me during rough parts of my life. She is truly kind, extremely patient and everyone she meets will tell you the same. She never takes anytime or treats herself, and I think this would be so special for her. Thanks for having this contest! There are so many awesome moms out there! (Submitted by Heather.)

I believe I am a SuperMom because I not only go above and beyond the call of duty for my children but for other individuals as well. Even if I am struggling myself I find a way to still be of service to others. I am re-establishing my household after I brief stint of homelessness with 3 children. I became homeless because I opened my heart and home to someone who used me and my children. But although I was homeless I never gave up on anything despite all of the bad luck that seemed to come my way. I pushed through and came out a winner in the end. Even on my depressed days I still get up and handle business for me and my children. I am doing all of this with VERY little assistance from others.

I’m a single mom that makes 40 hrs a week. Trying to get a place to live for me and my 1 yr old daughter and soon coming a baby boy. A car that dies twice a week and doing it all on my own

Julie F.

I am Cleveland born and raised. I’m 48 years old and a nursing student now. But prior to that I bounced between being a stay at home mom and working mom. I was a teen mom who managed to get my GED, learned to sew, cook, start a career and move me and my children out of the ghettos of case court and Longwood housing. And into Garfield hts. Taught myself how to take care of my children with no examples from my parents and I knew I never wanted the life I had for my children. I struggled raising them for ten years and then got married at the age of 30. I took care of my mother in-law during this marriage for 9 years until 1 year before she passed away This marriage ended 9 years later due too the fact that he forgot he was married. I still manage to give my children the leave it to beaver style life I always wanted. I didn’t drink, smoke or party. My life was for them. I’m proud to say that all 5 of my children have graduated from high school. 2 have graduated college with there bachelors. And 1 has just received her master’s. 1 is a chef. And 1 is a ATM installation technician.

Hi there! I am nominating my mom Joelle. It’s been a rough couple years, my parents got divorced, she had to go back to working full time after being a stay at home mom for 16 years, she then lost her job because of a mass layoff, and she recently overcame Melanoma skin cancer. Through all the ups and downs she has always loved and cared for me and my 2 siblings. She always has done anything and everything in her power to make sure that me and my siblings are happy and healthy, even if she wasn’t. I owe her the world, me and my sister also work full time jobs to help out. My sister is 21 and my little brother is 11. If my mom won this contest I would be brought to tears and wouldn’t be able to thank you guys enough. Everyone who meets her knows she is special because of her giving, selfless heart. My mom is the definition of a SuperMom and I pray that the most deserving SuperMom wins! God bless! Thank you for your time.

I have been a single mom of 2 for 5 years. Everything I do is for my kids. They are involved in sports and clubs and I somehow manage to make sure they never miss a practice, game, meeting all while working a full time job as well as running a Hair Studio. I also am a cancer survivor which I beat in July 2016. Through all my surgeries and appointments I never missed a single event for my kids. In what little free time I have, I have been remodeling our home to make it our own. I have laid floors, painted cabinets, put up a backsplash just to name a few. I have done all on my own with a little help from my dad. I work really hard to provide the best life I can possibly give to my children as well as help anyone I can. I adopted a family for Christmas who was going through a tragic time and was able to give them a wonderful Christmas. My goal in life is to overcome hardships with positivity. I live everyday with a smile on my face. Seeing my kids happy, being responsible and growing up to be well behaved productive members of society is what drives me to work so hard and what makes me the happiest. I really would appreciate this help. I have never done anything like this as I have great joy of seeing what I can accomplish on my own. However, with my house still not close to being done this would significantly help a project that I have slowly been working on for 5 years. It would also give me more time to be able to do more fun things with my kids. They are 11 & 13 and before I know it they will be grown. I try to cherish every moment I have with them. Thank you for the opportunity!
